Brokerage accounts - Beacon Budget v0.20.1

You can now set an account to Brokerage and choose which reported balance Beacon uses.

Brokerage accounts

Brokerage accounts may not share the transaction data Beacon needs to keep a balance up to date. For these accounts, Beacon uses the balance reported by your bank or brokerage at each sync.

Brokerage accounts count toward Free to Save and can back Vault buckets. When you set an account to Brokerage, choose which balance to use:

  • Available: The cash balance your institution reports.

  • Current: The full value of the account.

An account's value can change between syncs. If you choose Current, Free to Save can move up or down, including below zero, while your bucket balances stay the same.

Existing accounts won't change automatically. You can switch an account to Brokerage whenever you want.

Other improvements

  • EV Charging category: New charges at charging networks now go under Transportation instead of Gas or Restaurants. Existing transactions keep their categories.

  • Reconnecting a bank no longer counts against your monthly limit for adding accounts.

  • Categories in the picker now sort by folder and name.

  • Fixed issues with account edits made offline, transactions showing an old account name, and picker sheets on iPhone cutting off the last option.

Thanks for continuing to provide feedback and helping improve Beacon Budget 🚀
