Huge updates at https://app.dasbudget.com (including sign in with Apple) Also got the tablet app ready to go. Same layout as the web so a great 3-for-1 here (Android, iPad, web).
Anthony: Will we get the iPad version through a simple app update?
Charles Riedmueller: yes!
Anthony: Hey! I’m excited for this! but It’s not working for me. It’s coming up completely blank. any ideas?
Hey it’s working now! I cleared by cache and I requested desktop version. Not sure which thing fixed it but it did :)
Anthony: I haven't seen the iPadOS update yet. Does it typically take a while?
Charles Riedmueller: not usually, but I was having some build issues with the iOS app. I should have it fixed tonight. And it'll rollout over 7 days.
Anthony: copy that. I'll be patient 😁
Anthony: I guess you're still hitting snags on the iPadOS version? I haven't seen an update
I am LOVING this, Anthony. You just singlehandedly reduced my anxiety by a significant amount. This helps so so much. Thank you!
Anthony... you did it buddy! This is exactly what I've been wanting since Simple died. Sure there's a couple things I would like to see (biggest thing is adjustable column sizes) but if you think I'm going to sit here and complain - NO WAY man. Thank you so much. Now I'm not tied to my damn phone anymore when I'm at my work computer and want to balance some finances!! UGH I LOVE IT!!!!! Question: Can I begin using this as is? In other words, will all the entries I make reflect in my mobile DAS as well? Probably a dumb question, but just wanted to make sure before I start fiddling...
Pete: yup! Feel free to dogfeed the web app :)
I am LOVING the desktop access. Even the push notifications work in the browser! Great job man, keep up the stellar work!
Excellent, excellent! So happy to be able to manage my budget from work without fiddling in my phone 😎
Yes!!!! I’m so excited!
Just wanted to let you all know that the web app is still in progress. It's very rough, but y'all can play with the development builds over at https://app.dasbudget.com --- Sign in with Google works (make sure popups and cookies are allowed) Sign in with email works (DAS now sends login codes instead of a login link) Sign in with Apple has yet to be developed. --- Let me what you think 😊. Again, it's still rough. Not even considered an alpha or beta version.
Anthony: ahhhh! I'm so excited! Thank you for the update.
Anthony: I love the side-by-side panes. In some ways I prefer over the mobile version, going in and out of buckets or transactions. Good use of the extra real estate
Charles Riedmueller: that was the goal! It'll only get better as I "webify" the app to behave and looks like a traditional website. And even extra things link bult editing, keyboard shortcuts, etc. Slowly, but surely 😄
I'm so excited and eager for this. I do most of my banking via desktop. Loving DAS Budget so far. Any updates on this feature/timing?
Thank God for this! Reviewing this app and Monarch Money and this one is winning out, ESPECIALLY with the coming Web App. 🙏🏼
OHHHHHH MAN!!! been waitin for this! :D :D :D
Anthony: SO happy to see this update!! Thank you, Anthony!
Anthony: Excited!
Honestly, I would be willing to take the application "as is" but on web instead of mobile. I would love to have this split into 2 phased approach, with extras (such as graphs) in the second phase. I say this knowing Flutter is a write-once deploy anywhere framework. However, I recognize things are not always as straightforward as they seem.
Jonathan Hosein: totally agree! Phase 1 will be the 1-1 feature parity, and phase 2 will include all the analytic goodies. Being made in Flutter will allow me to have common code between the mobile and web app (APIs, data, and even business logic). Although there will be 2 different apps as the web will be an actual full fledged website. And not just an expanded mobile app.
I'm not sure what you mean buy full fledged website. Are you referring to the additional marketing pages and help center already on the web? Also if you're on Docker, I'll give a little shoutout to the jwilder NGINX container. With just two environment variables, you can auto provision an SSL cert and reverse proxy to your app. I've used it personally and have been happy so far. https://hub.docker.com/r/jwilder/nginx-proxy
Jonathan Hosein: By full fledged, I mean not just the mobile app turned into a web app. With its own navigation, menu bars, etc. Not just and expanded mobile UI 😅 I actually use Cloud Run (hosts the API and current landing page) and they do certs for me! And scaling
Jonathan Hosein: Guys, just wanted to add my $.02. I, as a DAS Budget MANIACAL FAN, 100% approve of there being a 1:1 Web App with the mobile version... if it means ANY kind of web-based app that I can use on my computers / laptops / etc... and view on all it's full-screen glory :D I anxiously await. Added features of the proposed Web App would be a WELCOME BONUS, but at this point I wouldn't care so long as DAS exists in the web-app realm. :D Thanks, as always for all your hard work Anthony!!
The web version is still performing flawlessly for me. Is the iPad app update still in progress?
