Android app does not stay signed in on v0.12.1+218

I keep getting logged out whenever there has been a little bit of time since I last opened the app (less than an hour). This causes me to need to log in multiple times a day. I have set the app to not be managed by Android with unlimited battery usage to attempt to fix this, but neither setting change has had any affect. This is android v0.12.1+218, but was happening on earlier versions as well.
